Donawhale – Dive to Blue Review

donawhaleI have never heard a band this good from outside of the United States before in the vein of indie rock. Donawhale is a Korean band that anyone who likes the genre needs to hear.

With female fronted vocals surrounded by a plethora of instrumentation, all which seem simple but carry such a weight. One of the great things about the songs on the album is that the vocals are pitch perfect for the music and sound great with the effortless delivery.

Dive to Blue is an example of what South Korean can produce, but the difficulty that lies in finding it. If a United States label found this album and band and released it here, untouched, I am sure there would be a lot of fans.

I also think it’s difficult to find music that sounds so unpretentious like Donawhale. In this age of digital information and the perception of bands, a lot of American bands put up a front before their music.

Donawhale appear to hold their music before themselves which shows in the absolutely perfect crafting of each song.

Since I started finding music from South Korea, Donawhale is the first band, in any genre, that has amazed me so quickly. Buy this album if you can find it.
