Freenote – Introducing the Popline According to Freenote Review

freenotesFreenote is an audio combination of many genres. The basis is in indie rock with some electronic, jazz, and rock mixed in. Introducing the Popline According to Freenote is the first album by the band released in 2005.

With a female vocalist and somewhat sparse instrumentation, mainly with electronic chords, piano, and drums in the first track, “Walkmen,” Freenote enters the actual indie/punk genre with “Kirai Tune.” On some of the tracks, Freenote sound like Asian Kung-Fu Generation in the song structure.

Later in the album, the album takes another turn by speeding up the tempo and Freenote almost becoming a full fledged pop punk band. The album is a strange listen because Freenote plays all the genres they have throughout their songs very well.

Introducing the Popline According to Freenote is a good album, but the lack of cohesion is a little sad.
