Cloud Cuckoo Land – Self-Titled Review

coverOne of the great things about trying to categorize or assign genres to Korean or Japanese music is that usually there isn’t a perfect match in a comparison with the United States. In this case, Cloud Cuckoo Land is very much one of those bands.

Creating indie rock tracks that combine strings, slide guitar, and somewhat jam-style guitar, Cloud Cuckoo Land is something special. I can see that they might not appeal to everyone, because their style is a little strange in some ways. I would relate them to early Radiohead, not in the individual tracks themselves, but more of the delivery of the music as a whole.

This self-titled release is a strong album. There is a lot of good variety in the music, but keeps with the band’s overall sound.
