There seems to be a common thread with a lot of Korean indie bands in that the influences that they pull from to make their music is not just from one genre. With Fortune Cookie, like other bands, have the lounge-jazz feel to their music. But along with this influence, Fortune Cooke also brings in a little electronica for some songs.
As opposed to the hard beats of centered electronica acts, Fortune Cookie uses a secondary approach to the addition of these sounds. Mainly The Beginning of Fortune is a serene low tempo album that doesn’t really amaze or disappoint. More so, it is just another album in the genre.
But Fortune Cookie’s album isn’t bad, but there’s not a lot of variety and it sounds like background music without any standout singles.
