The EP is a tricky release. Containing anywhere from three to seven songs, bands can either pull in their fans with ease or release something that most consider tracks that aren’t important for the overall library of a band.
Thankfully, American Standard bypasses that issue and is a great EP with five distinct and excellent tracks. I think the best track on the EP is Wonder Years which is a 1950s doo-wop punk song. With so much riding on pulling in listeners to the band, Gumx are close to have released what the gold standard of EPs should be.
Total EP track time 9:51 with five songs is pretty impressive as well to record a diverse range of tracks and still keep it under ten minutes.
Though they still haven’t defeated Japan’s BBQ Chickens’ eleven minute full-length album.
