When I listen to Daydream, I find it difficult to classify the band into any specific genre because while they sound indie rock, there is also an alt-country sound that comes from the songs. Following many other bands, A Land of April uses sparse instrumentation layering to create interesting audio landscapes in their songs.
Overall, the album is a calm yet slightly aggressive journey over eight songs and one live bonus track. The songs all feel like they’re pulling individual influences from other bands and modifying them for Daydream’s specific sound and for the most part, it is successful.
There is a consistency over the songs that pull everything together and I hope they’re continuing to make music.
