Freaky – Pearl Review

by Chris P on 04/22/2010

freakyFreaky have an alt-country tone to their music on this four song EP. With female fronted vocals and what seems to be male chorus accompaniment, Pearl is an different take on the music from South Korea.

It’s different enough to get notice, though being from 2008 I’m not sure if they were popular. It doesn’t sound like something that would emerge from South Korea, but it doesn’t have all the trappings of alt-country of the United States. “Be My Lover” actually sounds like a mix of pop rock and rockabilly. An interesting mix that is pulled off for that song.

I think the EP is a sample of the abilities of the group and hopefully they release something new.
