거미 (Gummy) – Loveless Review

by Chris P on 05/25/2010

gummyLike many other Kpop artists, I’ve heard of 거미 but never listened to anything that she released. Loveless is the first of her releases that I’ve heard, and I was very surprised at her vocal abilities.

The songs themselves feel a little nostalgic because they accompany her vocals rather than the other way around with other singers. Her soul-esque voice fits every song on the EP and really shows her range. I did enjoy that while the songs all have a similar theme, they do not sound too similar. “사랑은 없다” being my favorite song on the EP, it sounds like a club song, but has a lot of layers in it before it ends at 3:52.

She has a lot of talent and I will be looking for more of her releases.

Her vocals are really strong and leave an impression. I would go back in time a little if I were you and check some of her previous albums. Her second album was one of the first Korean albums I ever bought, and I really enjoyed it. She’s always on the forefront of the Korean R&B scene, musically. She’s gorgeous which doesn’t hurt either. :p

I have an earlier album that I plan on reviewing, but I forget the name right now.
