Phonebooth’s album is a bit of an enigma. It’s a very good rock album from the first track and then it throws the strangest curve with “1,2,3,4,5,6,7.”
I think every other track on the album, while not sounding like their all of the same genre, are performed very well. The mixture of tracks doesn’t cause a lack of direction which is something that I thought it would do. There is a slight The Beatles influence on “별빛에 젖어” and then “Revolver” takes a slightly Latin influence with the rhythms even though it’s still a rock song.
Phonebooth have created a fun and interesting album with By Me For Me Of Me. I recommend listening to it and listening to the talent the band has.
I think exploring new genres is fundamental for any band. Being a drummer, I listen to a ton of different genres, pretty obvious by the reviews. Listening or performing in only one genre is constricting.
I think most people would agree. I don’t know anyone who listens to just one genre. You’d miss out on a lot if you pigeon-holed yourself.

There is a kind of rise in the popularity of Spanish influence in music lately, I wonder what caused it? It happens every 5 years or so…
You made me curious about this album now. :p
