Japanese pop can take on a bunch of different forms. In the case of Aural Vampire, the pop has combined itself with electronica and synth to create an mixture of a somewhat synth-rock album.
But even with the rock providing the beats, the album is still a strong pop contender using the lolita-goth and gothic styles in the presentation. I think imagining a sugar pop version of industrial music could be a decent designation of what Aural Vampire is releasing.
Not taken seriously, Zoltank is a fun listen; but otherwise it’s just like other Jpop.
