Even though my first introduction to math-rock or instrumental rock was through American math-rock groups, I think now that the bands of Japan are the best at the genre. There are so many different styles to the this genre in Japan and mudy on the 昨晩 are another of my fast favorites.
While with Pavilion, the group doesn’t shy away from slower tempos, the instrumentation have very complex polyrhythms, a standard for the genre. They also create tracks that sound like rock tracks without vocals, and that makes them all the better so the listener isn’t diverted from the awesome performance.
In the sense of math-rock, mudy on the 昨晩 aren’t the most technical, but they do make some very dynamic songs that are worth the listen.
