4Minute – Hit Your Heart Review

4minute hit your heartAfter their disappointing Japanese single, 4Minute released their newest EP in Korea. Hit Your Heart really shows the talents of three of the five members of this group, enough to make me wonder why the group is actually five members.

Their single “Huh” follows the usual trend for 4Minute’s style being a mix of club/dance and electro-pop/R&B. It is on this single that the spotlight is really on three of the five members.

“Invitation” is another repetitive track that shows off the vocals of one of the rappers in the group. Though “I My Me Mine” isn’t something that I expected from the group and is actually my favorite song of the EP. It could easily be a electronic rock song and mimics that genre successfully.

But “Bababa” sounds like a copy of another Kpop song that I can’t remember the name of. Also “Highlight” sounds like it’s trying to be 이정현 in the vocals, something that’s extremely to produce. The final song “태연하게 당연하게” is a ballad and a song that I think pulls down the entire EP.

Overall, Hit Your Heart hits beats that are different from other girl idol groups, but their strength is in the bass-backed tracks, not slower ballads.
