I knew nothing about 프렌지 before I listened to Nein Songs and was blown away at the math-rock instrumentals that the album presented. While It feels like a lot of the songs could use vocals, just listening to the complex layers of instrumentation make this one of the best math-rock albums of the year.
Even though I consider Japanese math-rock to be a little more technical, Nein Songs carries a similar tone to Envy without the hardcore elements while retaining the ferocity of the music without even raising the volume. Like other math-rock or instrumental bands, it isn’t so much the music that is heard, but the spaces in between, something that 프렌지 do extremely well.
Be sure to take a listen to the album because it is impressive.
