When it comes to rap, my preferred type is more of the urban and lyric-delivery focused songs. San E’s mini-album from JYP entertainment takes a more pop friendly approach to the genre and shows the weakness in trying to cater to bigger audiences.
Most of the songs have guest JYP artists accompanying San E, but the songs for the most part all sound really similar. Even though the album does take influences from some of the more pop-sounding rap artists, overall it doesn’t have the same skill or feeling.
I’m sure that San E being a JYP artist will gain a lot of attention, but he’s yet to be on the same level as other Korean rap artists yet.
