dustbox – Starbow Review

Its been a while since I’ve listened to dustbox. They were an early Japanese punk band that I found when I started listening to Japanese music. I was surprised on how well they played the genre compared to their United States counterparts.

Their 2010 album, Starbow brings back a lot of memories of how well the band still plays punk rock. It’s high energy, fast paced, and never gets boring over the twelve tracks.

Surprisingly, the tracks are a little longer than they were on the first release I heard. They still have the same tone and polish, but they seem a little more mature than when I heard them before.

While it could be said that punk in Japan isn’t as big as it was a few years ago, the album is a standout for 2010.
