Drunken Tiger – 1945 해방 Review

Drunken Tiger is one of the groups that I discovered during the middle of my exploration of different Korean hip-hop. The ablum was released in 2005, a different age for Korean hip-hop because it mixes the urban feel of underground hip-hop while still being able to meet some pop environments.

The album is different because some of the songs could easily be recognized as pop hip-hop, but then the group changes and presents a song that contains much harder beats and lyrical delivery.

1945 해방 is a necessary Korean hip-hop album, it is a good impression of hip-hop during the mid 2000s and considering the newest release by the group, there’s still a lot more that can come from the group and Tiger JK.

While you’re on the DT rampage, you gotta check out their fifth album. Features one of the hottest opening tracks to a hip hop album I’ve ever heard.
