Mouse on the Keys – An Anxious Object Review

Even though Mouse on the Keys was classified as jazz, I don’t feel they are really a part of that genre. Possibly a new-jazz or some off-shoot, but they have a very specific math-rock feel as well.

2009’s An Anxious Object doesn’t have a huge amount of tracks, nine to be exact, but they have some of the highest levels of energy that I have seen before. It’s surprising that two keyboards and a drummer can produce such beautiful music.

I felt that there was nothing missing in the connection of the trio, they know how to use the space in each song and keep the tempos moving. From the United States, I haven’t heard an album that mixes multiple genres together and Mouse on the Keys is one of the tightest groups.
