Nothing’s Carved in Stone – Parallel Lives Review

Nothing’s Carved in Stone’s Parallel Lives was the first album from former lead guitarist of Ellegarden, Ubukata Shinichi, in his new band. It’s easy to hear the technical side of the music that Ubukata provided during his time in Ellegarden and Nothing’s Carved in Stone’s sound is much more technical than Ellegarden ended up being before the hiatus of the band.

Again though Ubukata doesn’t sing, but just plays his style of guitar. The band’s sound is a mixture of rock and indie, pushing a bit more aggressive style. The thing to notice is that it sounds like the songs were designed around the strengths of Ubukata and his playing style.

Coming directly from Ellegarden, it shows the difference in styles and Nothing Carved in Stone has an interesting future in their evolution.
