홀린 (Hlin) – 33060 Review

The first thing this EP did was bring back memories of Nell, My Aunt Mary, and other older Korean rock bands from the 2000s. The long choral verses over an “emo” indie style was instantly recognizable. But this being 2010, and that style not being heard for some time, it was interesting on how well it held up over the years.

There is definitely a precise ability needed to make this style work and the five song EP shows that 홀린 have what it takes. It’s the perfect callback to the older Korean rock style and I want to see what else this band can do in a full album capacity.

Taking a full band approach and making music that is as intricate as this is, is a difficult thing especially not making it sound aged, but 홀린 have done it.

It’s an EP that shouldn’t be missed.
