winnie – Dye Myself Black Review

winnie have been a secretive band in my playlist. They hide among other bands, and I forget about them until they come back on during a shuffle and I am reminded of their pop rock abilities.

It’s simplistic pop rock in the fact that it doesn’t try to add extraneous parts to the music, and pushes the dual vocals of the band forward.

The dual vocals mix very well, and they have a back-and-forth style during some of the songs, but there’s an indie tone to the lyrics as opposed to the music which carries a much faster beat.

Dye Myself Black consistently reminds me that while their style mixes pop punk, pop rock, and even a little Asian Kung-Fu Generation in their music, it’s some of the most melodic while still remaining strong.
