레인보우 (Rainbow) – SO女 Review

by Chris P on 04/20/2011

I know that I shouldn’t get sucked into the produced beats of 레인보우’s mini-album. I had listened to their earlier singles and thought they were catchy, but I’m stuck with “So Cool,” partially because it’s a one-off bubblegum Kpop song.

The production values hit another high point with mainly dance-pop with the 4/4 beating bass. 레인보우 does really well when they are performing the upbeat, high energy songs; but like many Kpop groups, they falter a bit during the necessary ballad track that is included in the release.

“너뿐 이라고” isn’t a poor song, but when these groups focus on gyrating dance moves to hyperactive beats, there’s something lost when they take a break.

Rounding out the release are their earlier singles “Mach” and “A.”

Kpop works best in dance form, but loses something with ballads, unless that’s the focus.
