aie – Hikarika Review

Another chance listen, aie’s Hikarika is another strong release in the vein of pop punk/rock. It sounds like a lot of the beginning emo bands from the United States before tempos fell below 60 bps.

The album does sound a bit produced with extra flourishes in some songs, though the tone of the album is upbeat. It’s a fun listen because the energy of the band comes through the music that was recorded.

Some people might find the album repetitive, and that’s one of the pitfalls of the genre, but aie play each song with respective skill so the album never falters.
