Woodblue – North Letter Review

Woodblue is another addition to the Japanese instrumental hip-hop musicians that I listen to. A much more ambient style, focusing on spaces and tones than hard beats, North Letter is an album that can be appreciated by a large number of listeners.

Like many of his peers, the songs uses many different rhythms and polyrhythms to create the audio landscapes. I would have to say that North Letter is “lighter” than other producers, but his music is just as powerful.

The 2007 album contains a full fifteen songs, a few with guests assisting. It’s definitely a full album to listen to and worth the time. Japanese producers are showing that there is a lot more music to appreciate.
