Lily of the Valley – Aquatree Review

Shoegaze has always been strong in Japan, but the genre has always been a bit more solemn. Aquatree by Lily of the Valley is a mix of indie and shoegaze.

The 2011 album has a lot higher pitch than other shoegaze bands, but still creates that excellent ambient sound. The vocals do sound a little processed, but the echo added to the music isn’t distracting and provides more depth to the album.

Aquatree might only have one true fault and that is that the songs have a very similar sound from track to track. As opposed to creating an album that is one song split into individual tracks, the twelve of Aquatree can sounds like twelve of the same song.

It isn’t, but that can be the tone.
