Listening to Gummy’s Japanese language album, there are two big differences.
In Korea, her releases have shown a strong vocal presence using R&B tones to project. Loveless feels much weaker than her Korean work. It’s almost easy-listening rather than her previous work.
The same power that exists before doesn’t come across. Even “Love is a Lie” doesn’t have force when I originally listened to it. The translation of the song into Japanese also veers the song and transitions sound a little awkward.
Gummy is a talented singer, but her Japanese debut needs to use her abilities.
