Loquence – The Black Band Review
Recently the mix of the styles of Korean hip-hop has moved towards more releases utilizing a fun to listen toby using simpler beats and adding multiple layers on top while the lyrics are delivered over them.
The sound of the release has a very swaying way of delivering the verses. It is almost like triplets over a 4/4 time signature. The polyrhythmic style is great since it never slows down. Even with slower tempos, the songs sound like they are moving at a fast pace.
Combine the various guest vocals, and The Black Band expands the sound of the album to meet and mix the different styles. It’s a great release to see how collaborations change songs or presentations by the influence of different ideas.
The Black Band looks aggressive on the surface, but is one of the most varied releases for 2011.
