the god and death stars – addle apple review

the god and death stars would likely be associated with Envy and other post rock bands from Japan. Their six song EP contains similar atmospheric sounds and tone that Envy used in their later albums.

But once the album starts and the vocals start, the album takes a more “standard” Japanese rock style. It does maintain the lower tones and heavier sounds, but doesn’t necessarily need the screaming that some post hardcore bands use.

It’s interesting because they sit on the cusp of the two genres with their EP. It could be considered general rock, but there is something below the music that tells they could explore harder sound in the future.

addle apple is a decent rock album, but there is more potential in the music of the band if they would experiment more.
