Woodblue – North Source Review

North Source from Woodblue is a 2007 album. Much like contemporaries like Michita, Nujabes, or Nomak; Woodblue produces instrumentals that range from hip-hop to orchestra-influenced.

Woodblue has a different style from others on North Source. There is very much a melodic prominence on the album with the focus on strings of melodic verses that is accompanied by different beats.

The songs on the album follow different genres, but each song is precisely crafted and fits the mood of the album overall. Japan has a number of really talented producers and Woodblue is one of the highlights.

The style of the music is not as beat-directed, but the melodies are hard to match.
