Glen Check – Haute Couture Review

Glen Check impressed with their Disco Elevator EP. Their full-length strangely only takes some of those ideas and turns into a new direction.

Haute Couture is a good album, but it’s slightly strange. The indie elements have lessened and there is more of a focus on the electronica and synth. The album sounds more like 80s new wave than the first release.

That style is slightly being over-done with recent release and there is also a similarity to The Koxx. I like the album, but it doesn’t have the same fresh tone that Disco Elevator had.

The group is definitely improving with their playing, but they might have missed a mark.
