Four Get Me A Nots is a great punk/rock band that I found by chance. Their music is high energy and features songs with both male and female vocals.
The release is a five song EP and shows off the talent of the group. The style is very similar to Nicotine in the type of music though, the band carries a lot more melody. Like a lot of Japanese bands, the music is mainly sung in English with a surprising amount of clarity.
Elixir does have a bit of an older sound, though it’s more in presentation than talent. It’s a great EP to listen to for rock/punk fans.

While it’s more difficult to find Korean punk or pop punk, Japan has always been a great place to find interesting pop punk that still sounds very original.
After Tonight is a pop punk band that sings in English and bring back the old style that existed in the late 90s in the United States. Their EP is only six songs, but each one has a lot of great energy.
Even though After Tonight play simple music, which consists of power chords and not a lot of changing rhythms, the band knows how to create addictive and upbeat music.
The Lenses is a great EP for pop punk fans. There’s a little speedcore dispersed in the songs and the variety makes each song more fun to listen to.

Last Alliance’s c.s.c20022011 stands for Complete Single Collection 2002-2011. The three disc album has thirty-one songs from Last Alliance’s career showing all the transitions and evolution of the band over that time.
The rock and punk sound that Last Alliance plays is one of the strongest for Japanese music. Their energy comes across in every song.
It’s great that the band knows how to play high-energy and technical music while at the same time keeping it very addictive.
You’re going to get a lot of music with c.s.c20022011. But with the songs, you see how well Last Alliance play and how they have continued to remain as a band.

I really like JinnyOops! because it’s female produced punk and rock music.
The EP only has four songs on it, but every song contains more energy than a lot of recent releases. The uninhibited power that comes across is a great representation of what Japanese musicians can do when they choose their style.
You’re definitely not going to get bored listening to JinnyOops! I just wish there were more songs because four tracks are not enough with the ability of the band. It’s more like a teaser of what they can do rather than show off all their talent.
Listen to JinnyOops! because there aren’t enough female rock groups that play this hard.

I’ve only listened to later Last Alliance, so hearing something from early 2000 is an interesting change to hear how the band has changed over time.
It’s apparent that the band found their sound early on. Tear Library contains the foundation of all their other albums. It’s a little more pop rock and lacks the aggressiveness from other albums, but the music is still a lot of fun to listen to.
It’s funny because Last Alliance toe the line between punk and rock a lot more on the album and really show that they are able to play both styles without any problem.

There are a lot of bands who carry and play very specific sounds even though their style is somewhat common. Last Alliance is one of those bands who play a mixture of rock and punk, but have a recognizable sound on every sound.
The Sum is a little different from Last Alliance’s other albums because it sounds a little more experimental in the arrangements of the songs. The music still comes across really high energy and you won’t be disappointed over the twelve songs.
Even though the album is from 2008, Last Alliance’s sound is in some ways a classic sound. They do meet a little bit too much Jpop rock, but it’s not enough to turn the sound.

Eastern Youth are one of the early punk bands of Japan. They’ve been around for a long time playing and evolving their sound even though the base is still the same./
I can’t recommend Eastern Youth enough to anyone who is listening to Japanese rock. The music is classic and important with each album. Their latest being released in 2011, it’s great to hear that their sound hasn’t changed. The vocals are still hoarse and the music is still played with a small amount of abandon and grittiness that is always great to hear.
Even when Eastern Youth isn’t playing their best, it’ still sounds better than a lot of other Japanese bands. You will hear the emotion coming across from the whole band and even though the recording of the music has gotten better, Eastern Youth haven’t changed.
If you haven’t listen to Eastern Youth, you’re missing something from your playlist.
